Hey friends!
I don’t know about you, but I’m toast. Drained. I’m really struggling to find the energy to get through these coming days before Christmas – to finish essays and to pass my last practical exam of this class. Are you the same? In that case, how do you manage to give a little more when there’s almost nothing more to give? I think maybe we need some self-care these last few weeks.
No, I’m not talking about going to the spa. I’m talking quick, cheap and efficient tricks to help us recharge a bit so we won’t need all of Christmas break to sleep or stare into a wall.
I’ve googled and thought a little about it and I have some ideas:
Make the mornings cozier – this one is golden. Imagine starting off in a perfect way, setting the tone for the rest of the day. I would love a morning routine filled with intention and luxury, but honestly, for now lighting a candle while I’m having my coffee will probably have to do.
Breathe – yes, we’ve mentioned breathing a few times here on the blog. And taking deep breaths is a crazy cheap way to get into a different mode. Maybe one can try taking four or five breaths and just thinking about what the breathing sounds or feels like?
Screen ban in the bedroom – this one, I bet many of us would benefit from. Blue light and scrolling do no wonders for sleep. And bad sleep = bad prerequisites for getting through all the school things. I’ll try keeping my phone outside the bedroom. Or at least outside of the bed.
Daylight and nature – ok, so they say the forest is good for us. I guess we could go out and hug some trees? Maybe go to the nearest park and look at the trees? If you live close to a forest, go there, listen to the silence and enjoy the stillness.
That’s that. Hope you’re doing ok and that you get some time to unwind this Christmas holiday. I’m gonna go take a few deep breaths. Talk to you soon.
