Did you move in to your student apartment, put all your time and energy on school and now you realize it looks kinda empty? No fun things on the walls? No color? Live to Grow Crew to your rescue! Here are a few of our fave easy, student-budget friendly interior DIYs.
DIY washi tape art
Washi tape is a Japanese masking tape made of rice paper. Thanks to its low tack adhesive, one can use it for decorating furniture, walls, binders and much, much more. So pimp up your dresser, a door or a wall with washi tape in your favorite color or pattern. A quick search on Pinterest and you’ll be so inspired you’ll wanna cover everything you own in washi. Just remember to try it somewhere smart and also that it’s washi, not décor tape.
DIY type art
Do you have a quote, a song or joke that deserves a spot on the wall? Make your own type art out of it! Either go to the craft store and buy some paint and brushes and write it yourself, find a nice pen and a friend with great handwriting or simply type it on your computer and print it in the size you want. Then frame it or put it up on the wall (with washi!).
DIY cork pin board
Buy a few cork trivets – sometimes you can find super cheap ones at flea markets. Paint them, re-shape them or just, you know, use washi tape to make cool patterns on them. Hang the trivets in groups and use nice colorful pins to hang photos, notes, flowers or whatever you like on them.
